Special Instruction:– Separate serum from red cells within 2 hours of collection
Do not refrigerate samples prior to centrifugation

Causes for Rejection:– Quantity not sufficient
– Improper collection tube used
– Improperly labeled specimen
– Hemolyzed sample
Stability Requirements:Room Temperature: 7 days
Refrigerated: 4 days (SERUM MUST BE SEPARATED FROM GEL SEPARATOR)
Freezer: 6 weeks (SERUM MUST BE SEPARATED FROM GEL SEPARATOR)
Use:– Mainly used to check for tissue damage
Methodology :– Kinetic UV assay
Limitation :– Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia
